199? - present    Announcer for Minnesota Twins Television

No other Dutchman gave up as many home runs as this former Minnesota Twins (Texas Rangers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cleveland Indians, and California Angels) ace.  If you want more of Bert Blyleven's pitching stats, see his official webpage.  I am here to document and discuss something else.  Dick Bremer, the broadcast partner of this pitching great, has to put up with Bert's hilarious habit of trying to MAKE A CALL.  If you are not familiar, MAKING A CALL entails a wild-ass guess by Bert as to what's gonna happen next in the baseball game he is broadcasting.  Its fairly amusing and most of the time he is wrong - and every few years he drags Dick along for the bumpy ride.  Circle this Bert.

For those Cardinals fans out there that think the Twins won the World Series in '87 just because of the dome, here are some numbers for ya.  At www.baseball-reference.com they have calculated a Park Factor rating (originally from totalbaseball.com) for every team each year to determine the impact that the location may have upon pitchers and hitters.  As you will notice, the results challenge the preconception of the Homerdome.  Get over it, the Twins won fair and square.

"Calculated separately for batters and pitchers. Above 100 signifies a park favorable to hitters;
below 100 signifies a park favorable
to pitchers."

Ok, maybe it was in the air (currents).

Here is a good editorial by Bert about contraction on his message board .
