PREVIOUSLY...

I grew up amongst the rolling bluffs in and around the city of Winona, Minnesota and attended Winona Senior High School..

After my undergraduate work in Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Minnesota, Morris, I coordinated three SEAMS Service Learning grants.  These allowed for the integration of upper-division Mathematics courses with community research needs to provide a hands-on learning environment for both the students and the faculty.  Still in Morris, I worked at the Center for Small Towns.  This program facilitated links between rural Minnesota and the resources at the University of Minnesota.  In 1997 I left for the University of Missouri, Columbia and received my M.S. in Rural Sociology in 2001.  My research assistantship was with Dr. Kenneth Pigg working on an evaluation of the Missouri Express program until 2000-01 when I worked for the Thomas Hill Enterprise Center as program manager for the Rural Community Action Program (keeping the community development process simple).  After five years in Missouri, I have again returned to the University of Minnesota-Morris, working for the Center for Small Towns as the Coordinator of Data Analysis and Research and teach Statistics in the Division of Science and Math.
